The Hinderbach Palace

Built up against the Casa Vecchia, the palace was built in 1477 by Bishop Prince Johannes Hinderbach, whose coat of arms is inscribed above the entrance.
An elegant staircase, with alternate red and white steps, leads to the Putto Room, decorated with a Renaissance pictorial frieze, and from there, passing through the old kitchen, visitors can access the Bishop’s Room, an intimate space with a curious hidden “lavatory”.
On the second floor is the Camin Nero (Black Fireplace) Room, decorated with a Renaissance frieze depicting battle scenes, which took its name from the imposing fireplace made from black Ragoli marble.
The decorations date back to work ordered by Bishop Prince Bernardo Cles, who was responsible for redeveloping the city and building the sumptuous Magno Palazzo.
