This valuable collection includes the Evangeliario Purpureo (5th century) with purple-tinted pages and silver script, the Sacramentarlo Gregoriano (9th century) with its cover decorated with an ivory plaque from the 8th century, and the famous 15th century musical and liturgical Codices from the Feininger Collection. The collection is enriched by the presence of six of the seven Trentino Musical Codices originating from the Trento Cathedral, that are considered one of the most valuable and important sources for understanding and studying the music of the first half of the 15th century. It is made up of about 2,000 sheets that contain 1,864 prevalently sacred polyphonic compositions, which testify to the aesthetic sensibility of over eighty composers of that time, from G. Dufay to the Franco-Flemish, from the Italians to the English.
