Graphics

The graphic collection documents the Trentino’s more modern artistic culture and consists of around 3,500 works of art. Along with the prints and drawings with reference to places, people and events of Trento, there are also works by local artists or those active in the area, and the collection of work by important European etchers donated to the Museum by Trentino collectors.

Among these is the outstanding Lazzari Turco Menz collection, consisting of around a thousand prints. This collection encompasses a vast chronological arc from the end of the 15th century to the middle of the 19th century, and includes works by the Italian, French, Flemish-Dutch, German, Spanish, and English schools. There are artists such as Sadeler, Cort, Bloemaert, Bolswert, Vorsterman, and Pontius. Significant attention is paid towards the great Italian masters; most importantly the artists from the Emilian area, while from the Veneto region are the noted xylographs by Niccolò Boldrini. The Flemish sector is extensively documented, followed by the Rembrandtian section that is alongside a vast selection of works taken from Rubens’s art.

Also of significance are the represented French masters, among which are a Callot, a Mellan, a Nanteuil, the Audrans and the Drevets.
