Corridor behind the kitchen - Vestibule to the baths.

From the Loggia one enters a long corridor where the kitchen and bathrooms were originally located, and from where one could descend to the gardens.

One of Romanino’s most beautiful decorations is found here. On the vault, with the figure of Minerva at its centre, are numerous lively putti waving a palm, a laurel, and the Unitas; in the back, above the door is the Torture of Prometheus (or maybe of Titus). On the walls are friezes with imitation antique marble busts and exquisite red monochrome ovals with mythological themes.

From the corridor one arrives at the “stua secca” and the “stua da bagno”, the baths used by the Cardinal for curative purposes: the small corridor has a stuccoed vault and is decorated with two sensual frescoed images of bathers by Romanino.
