Located on the second floor in front of the entrance to the Sala Grande, this corridor connects the Bishop’s private rooms with the central block of the palace. The frescoes and the ceiling decorations are the work of Dosso Dossi together with other collaborators (1532). Above the entrance to the Sala Grande is a portrait of a kneeling Bernardo Cles in cardinal dress, being presented to the enthroned Virgin Mary by Saint Vigilio, Trento’s patron saint and Cles’s predecessor as bishop of the city. An unusual frieze depicting sheep with bizarre, knotted tails alternates with medallions of male and female couples.
