Among the many medieval works of art, of note are the finds at the ancient settlement on Doss Trento hill, an ancient fortification and cult area. The precious 6th century mosaics originated from the paleochristian basilica and its oratory.
The Santa Apollinare silver reliquary of the 6th-7th century was found during a dig at this Trento church that was then rebuilt according to the Cistercian Gothic cannons. Also belonging to the museum, along with the valuable codicils, the detached frescoes and the sculptures, are a remarkable collection of items made of ivory and bone such as mirrors, coffers and precious objects for home use, that were created in Italy in the wake of the renowned French Gothic ivory sculpturing.
