The decoration in this room is in terracotta as opposed to the adjoining rooms that are almost entirely frescoed. The work was carried out by Zaccaria Zacchi in 1532, and covers both the ceiling and underlying lunettes.
The blue of the sky painted on the ceiling, accentuates the planets that alternate with busts of men in classic dress and pairs of angels that uphold the Clesian symbolic representation of the seven sceptres tied with a ribbon alluding to the ideal of political unity. The raised text in the lunettes is in terracotta, coloured to look like bronze.
